Most personality frameworks are designed for human conversation, not for software to act on.

There are plenty of good ways to describe a person. The Big Five. The Enneagram. Holland's RIASEC. MBTI, for better or worse. Each of these has its vocabulary, its strengths, its weaknesses, and its devoted community of practitioners. A therapist uses one framework. A career counsellor uses another. A team coach uses a third. None of them are right in any absolute sense. All of them are useful for particular conversations, and none of them were designed to feed a computer with instructions about what content to show you next. When software tries to use them directly, awkward things happen. The system either flattens a nuanced profile into a single category, or gets paralysed trying to weigh dimensions that were never meant to be weighed against each other.

What is needed is a bridge. A translation layer that takes the rich human description from whichever framework the person is comfortable with, and produces a set of preferences the software can actually act on. A desire for autonomy becomes a decision not to nag with check-ins. A preference for concrete examples becomes an adjustment to content selection. A tolerance for uncertainty becomes a choice about how often to offer a hint. Built well, this kind of bridge lets the software behave more sensitively without pretending it has understood the whole person. Built badly, it becomes a horoscope engine, reading tea leaves and dressing them up as insights. The difference is whether the bridge was designed with humility about what software can actually do. If an app tried to adapt to your personality, what would you want it to actually change about how it behaves?
